Media Alert: SAHRC Eastern Cape Provincial Office conducts monitoring activities in King Sabatha Dalindyebo, Nyandeni and Mhlontlo Municipalities

The South African Human Rights Commission’s (Commission) Eastern Cape Provincial Office (ECPO) will be embarking on various monitoring activities in King Sabatha Dalindyebo(KSD), Nyandeni and Mhlontlo Local Municipalities. This is in accordance with section 184 (1) (c) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa that; the South African Human Commission must monitor and assess the observance of human rights in the Republic. 

The role of monitoring and assessing human rights and potential human rights violations, provides for an opportunity for the Commission to inspect areas of potential violation, and facilitate redress where required.

Monitoring activities will include site visits to healthcare facilities, children rights, people living with disabilities (transport association) and National Preventive Mechanism’s facilities.
