Media Advisory: SAHRC Free State Provincial Office to conduct monitoring activities in the Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality

The South African Human Rights Commission’s (“the Commission”) office in the Free State will be conducting monitoring activities in the Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality.  Section 184 (1) (c) of the Constitution states that, the Commission must monitor and assess the observance of human rights in the Republic. 

Monitoring will be conducted from 12 – 15 February 2024.

The activities will include monitoring of the implementation of recommendations made by the Commission in its Report of the National Investigative Hearing into the Status of Mental Health Care in South Africa (2017) which can be accessed online https://www.sahrc.org.za/home/21/files/SAHRC%20Mental%20Health%20Report%20Final%2025032019.pdf

 

The FSPO will also be monitoring the status of service delivery in the various local municipalities falling under Thabo Mofutsanyana District.
